Off-Season Pursuits

The 2013 season finally ended and our favorite pro-players are off spreading the gospel of tennis to the masses south of the border. Indeed, many pros have headed to the Caribbean and South America to spread the love of the game. Check back next week when a couple key exhibitions take place in the USA. Here are some pics: Necker Cup on Necker, British Virgin Islands Sorana Cirstea and Ana Ivanovic having fun in the sun. Pretty Girl Invitational? Rafael Nadal, Richard Branson and Boris Becker.  Venus & Serena Williams in Jamaica Who would win a foot race - Venus & Serena or Jamaican Olympians Warren Weir & Yohan Blake.  David Nalbandian's Farewell Tour in Argentina Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal joined forces to send David Nalbandian out in style. Where was Juan Martin del Potro during these festivities? Oh yeah - there's some bad blood there between he and Nalbandian. This is one of the

2013 Fashion Aces

Just in time for Thanksgiving in the US, its time to give thanks for the tennis players who kept it Glam and aced 2013. Sure, some of these players also appear on the Fashion Fault List .  Thankfully some were able to redeem themselves and wind up on the best dressed list.  1. Ana Ivanovic looked perfect at Roland Garros this year.  Maybe she makes a special effort to create Glam Looks in Paris because she's a former French Open Champion?  2. Andy Murray followed up his Wimbledon title by looking splendid under the lights in NYC at the US Open. Red definitely suits the reigning Olympic gold medalist.  3. Fist pump for Novak Djokovic's minty green Uniqlo shirt.  4. Rafael Nadal Glammed Up his look for the end of the year and made up for his US Open outfit  catastrophe . 5. Laura Robson looked old-school and lovely in Adidas at Wimbledon in 2013.  6. Aga Radwanska's Lotto dress rocked. The cut and style of this d

2013 Fashion Faults

These tennis fashions missed the mark in 2013.  1. Caro's bikini dress is way too complicated and the oblique cut-outs are unflattering.  2. Federer tried and failed to mix Black, Navy, and other varying shades of blue. The black socks are icing on the cake. Bring back Darth Federer.  3. These lines proved to be unflattering on Maria. She seems to love adding triangles, rectangles and other geometric lines to her Nike kits.  4. Gael Monfils did nothing to deserve having to wear this shirt at home in Paris.   5. Gray is not Rafa's color.  6. With a few inches more, this outfit would be great.  7. No Sveta, nooooo. You've come way too far. 8. Batman's on his way Vika.  9. Love that Camila's  mom makes her outfits.  However, this was an interesting look for prime-time, under the lights, in NYC.  10. Tommy's to haat for this. An aside - I really hope he show's up on

Year in Review: Roger Federer

Roger Federer's year came to a close at the hand of his rival, Rafael Nadal, in the Semi-Finals at the ATP World Finals in London.  Roger picked up one title in 2013 by earning his sixth Halle trophy in June 2013.  The former number one, and all-time great, saw his rankings dip to a low of 7th best in the world. Roger's record of 36 straight major QF appearances came to an end at Wimbledon due to his 2nd Round.  Roger became one of the winning-est players ever after securing his 900th career win over the course of the season.  Let's take a look back at his year: JANUARY Reached SF at Australian Open (l. to Murray)    FEBRUARY Reached QFs at Rotterdam (l. to Benneteau) MARCH Reached SF at Dubai (l. to Berdych) Reached QF at Indian Wells (l. to Nadal) (Federer v. Year in Review: Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova had a wild 2013 that ended prematurely with a right shoulder injury. Maria emerged victorious twice this year, earning titles at Indian Wells and in Stuggart.  The 2012 Roland Garros champion was unable to defend her major title, reaching the finals of the clay court championship where she was defeated by Serena Williams.  After the loss, Maria played three more times in 2013 making brief appearances at Wimbledon, where she skidded on the grass uncontrollably for two rounds, and then in Cincinnati for one losing match.  Along the way, Maria cycled through two coaches, ditching Thomas Hogstedt in June 2013. Maria surprised the tennis world by signing Jimmy Connors to her camp later in the summer only to dismiss a few weeks later shortly before the US Open.   Ms. Sugarpova Sharapova continued to make bank on her candy line and ramped up press by tantalizing with the notion that she would seek an official name change - playing as Maria Sugarpova - during the US
