Year in Review: Roger Federer

Roger Federer's year came to a close at the hand of his rival, Rafael Nadal, in the Semi-Finals at the ATP World Finals in London. 

Roger picked up one title in 2013 by earning his sixth Halle trophy in June 2013. 

The former number one, and all-time great, saw his rankings dip to a low of 7th best in the world. Roger's record of 36 straight major QF appearances came to an end at Wimbledon due to his 2nd Round. 

Roger became one of the winning-est players ever after securing his 900th career win over the course of the season.

  • Lost in 2nd Round at Wimbledon (l. to Stakhovsky)
JULY
  • Reached the QFs at Hamburg (l. to Delbonis)  
  • Lost in the 2nd Round at Gstaad (l. to Brands) 
AUGUST
  • Reached the Finals at Cincinnati QFs (l. to Nadal) (Federer v. Nadal XXXI)
SEPTEMBER
  • Lost at the US Open in the 4th Round (l. to Robredo) 

OCTOBER
  • Lost in the 3rd Round at Shanghai (l. to Monfils)
  • Reached the Finals at Basel (l. to del Potro) 
  • Earned 12th straight qualification to the ATP World Tour Finals
NOVEMBER

It's been a while, hasn't it. Where to even begin with the crazy 2022 Australian Open! 2 thoughts for your consideration on Day 2. The deuces are wild.  1. US Open 2018: Welcome Back & New Logo

Well...it's been 2 years hasn't it. That's what heading to grad school will do to a person. Sometimes the axiom, 'the more things change, the more they stay the same,' rings true. But sometimes, as with the case of the US Open's new logo, one steps away, and comes to find that things have gone completely awry. Is this Arial font? Are these letters lower case? Really, in this political climate, lower case US? Is lower case an affront to becoming great again? Also, is this logo actually in Arial Italics? According to the USTA, "t he logo created by renowned graphic design firm Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv, is a streamlined and modernized version of the tournament’s iconic flaming ball logo, which was first introduced in 1997." The old logo had a solid 20-year run. This logo probably won't make it this long because it lacks pizzazz and lacks the distinction the previous logo offered.  And here's a look at an earlier

Australian Open 2015: Style Preview - Fila
